Illumina是由David Walt博士、CW集團的Larry Bock、獸醫學博士John Stuelpnagel、 Anthony Czarnik博士及Mark Chee博士于1998年4月共同組建。在與CW集團風險投資公司合作期間，Larry和John在Tufts大學研究出了BeadArray技術，經過商議他們取得了該技術的專屬授權。他們把Illumina的總部設于加利福尼亞的聖地亞哥，并于2000年7月首次公開上市。

大事記
