創作背景
傑克遜已經有一個長期的投身慈善或社會事業的曆史，傑克遜用自己的名望和财富來促進各種慈善事業，他曾在1985年創作慈善歌曲《天下一家》。
這首歌曲創作自1995年，當時世界戰争不斷，污染越來越嚴重，在那樣的曆史背景下，邁克爾傑克遜親自作詞，作曲以及編曲和制作，創作了《地球之歌》。
《地球之歌》（Earth Song）最初以《我們呢》（What About Us）的名字為《危險》（Dangerous）專輯而作，後經重新制作和優化，入選了《曆史》（HIStory）專輯。
