Captain and Tennille （船長與妲尼爾合唱團）

The Captain & Tennille組建始于1970年代。Captain的本名為Daryl Dragon，是一名優秀的鍵盤手，同時是The Beach Boys的特約樂隊成員之一，由于頂上微秃，平常老是戴着一頂船長帽子，所以有一綽号“Captain Keyboard”，大家都叫他Captain（船長）。Toni Tennille，除了歌喉不錯之外，本身也是個作曲好手。1971年的時候，跟好友合作，寫了一出音樂劇《Mother Earth》，到處巡回演出。有一次他們的鍵盤手臨時無法參加演出，在朋友介紹下，請到了當時正好沒有事做的Captain，兩人一見如故，合作愉快。音樂劇落幕之後，Captain還邀請她也加入The Beach Boys，一起巡演了一季。之後，他們返回到洛杉矶，以二人組合的名義在夜總會演出。
The Captain & Tennille跟A&M唱片簽約之後，第一張唱片快要完聲的時候，他們發現還需要一首節奏輕快、可以展現Captain鍵盤樂器實力的歌曲。聽到Neil Sedaka在重返美國市場的專輯《Sedaka’s Back》中的《Love Will Keep Us Together》之後（當時Neil Sedaka隻關注他被其他歌手搶先翻唱的《Laughter In The Rain》，而無暇理會推動《Love Will Keep Us Together》），感到正對胃口，于是立刻重新編曲，以最快的速度錄制下來，再請老闆評鑒一下。果然，包括老闆跟公司所有的主管都一緻鼓掌，決定就用它來當第一首主攻歌曲。唱片才一上市，馬上就進榜，九個星期之後，歌曲就獲得了首個Billboard冠軍歌，并婵聯了四周。由于他們還有着西班牙後裔的血統，所以又把這張專輯所有的歌曲用西班牙文重新錄制一次，包括了《Love Will Keep Us Together》的西班牙語版，同樣也打進了排行榜，使得他們成了有史以來唯一有同一首不同語言版本的歌曲同時在榜上的藝人。這張唱片還獲得了第18屆格萊美獎的最佳年度唱片獎，同名歌曲也被電影《史密斯夫婦》作為插曲。
首張專輯成功後，他們結了婚。在《Love Will Keep Us Together》單曲成功之後，The Captain & Tennille還有一些單曲較受歡迎，如加入另一唱片公司後推出的《Do That To Me One More Time》曾獲冠軍單曲，以及為人熟知的卻由Barry Manilow唱紅的《I Write The Song》等等。
