簡介
西蒙和加芬克爾（英語：Simon & Garfunkel）是著名美國民謠搖滾音樂二重唱組合，由保羅·西蒙與亞特·加芬克爾組成。他們是六十年代最流行的樂團之一，被視為該年代社會變革的反文化偶像，同期的音樂家還有披頭士及鮑勃·迪倫。

哥倫比亞唱片(英語:Columbia Records)，是現存的唱片公司中最老的品牌。從1888年開始便開始制作唱片，1991年被Sony Music收購，成為旗下的子公司。
從藝曆程
1965年，Simon & Garfunkel憑借着一曲《The Sound of Silence》迅速走紅。而2年後，為經典電影《畢業生》配唱插曲進一步成就了他們的輝煌。
1970年，他們因音樂上的意見不合而分道揚镳，但此後也曾多次同台表演。他們的音樂以充滿詩意的歌詞與優美的和聲著稱于世，代表作如《寂靜之聲》、《斯卡布羅集市》等曆經幾十年依舊美妙如昔，為人樂道。
2003年，Simon & Garfunkel獲得了格萊美終身成就獎。
音樂曆程
Simon & Garfunkel的曆史要追溯到50年代，兩位音樂巨匠保羅·西蒙（Pual Simon）和阿特·加芬克爾(Art Garfunkel)就是從那時開始了黃金搭檔的音樂生涯，他們的歌曲淳樸而感人，創作出無數脍炙人口的經典之作，雖然曆經歲月洗禮，聽來仍感人肺腑。
保羅·西蒙（生于1941年10月13日）同阿特·加芬克爾（生于1941年11月5日）在紐約一塊兒長大。15歲時，他倆就組建了“湯姆和傑裡”（Tom & Jerry）樂隊。
1964年，哥倫比亞唱片公司與他們簽約制作了第一張唱片《Wednesday Morning, 3 AM》，其中就有那首著名的《The Sound of Silence》，這是他們第一次以“Simon & Garfunkel”的名義面世。歌倫比亞公司将該曲改編成搖滾風格，在佛羅裡達的電台中滾動播放。
1966年1月，這首單曲榮登排行榜冠軍寶座，Paul Simon被譽為新的反叛一代的曲作者和詩人。接着好運就一直追随着這兩位極具才華的年輕人，相繼出版的單曲《Homeward Bound》，《I Ama Rock》一并進入1966年度的最暢銷名單。
在這之後Simon & Garfunkel的音樂逐步探讨着孤獨和異化的主題，他們用音樂的獨特形式表達了年輕一代在成長中的煩惱與渴望。
1967年，他們出版了第四張專輯《Bookend》充滿了詩的意味，次年他們又為達斯汀·霍夫曼主演的電影《畢業生》錄制了歌曲《Mrs. Robinson》，這首曲子高居排行榜前列達數周之久。
在專輯排行榜上《The Graduate》、《Bookend》和《Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme》分别位居第一、第二、第三；1968年《Mrs. Robinson》榮獲該年度葛萊美最佳聲樂小組流行曲表演獎。
Simon & Garfunkel的颠峰之作是1970年的專輯《Bridge Over Trouble Water》，這個專輯包括11首無可非議的單曲，成為當時樂壇上的最暢銷專輯之一，銷量達1000萬張以上。
但是巨大的成功也使得他們難以再前進。加芬克爾把興趣轉向了電影，出演了《第二十二條軍規》和其他一些電影。不久後，西蒙與加芬克爾分手。西蒙則在此後的個人音樂生涯中不斷發展前行。
