研究領域
研究方向
趙鼎新教授主要興趣方向是曆史社會學、社會運動、社會變遷、經濟發展與民主轉型。他提倡在宏觀結構條件約束下以機制為核心的多因變量的解釋框架。他提出以變遷、結構、話語三個視角為出發點來理解和解釋社會運動的發生和發展。他強調國家的合法性在解釋現代國家政治的穩定性、社會運動和革命的動态發展，以及經濟發展等問題中的核心重要性。他在社會學領域的研究成果主要發表在《美國社會學雜志》、《美國社會學評論》、《社會力量》、《社會學視角》、《中國研究季刊》以及國内出版的《社會學研究》等刊物上。他的專着The Power of Tiananmen于2001年由芝加哥大學出版社出版，相繼獲得美國社會學學會2001年度亞洲研究最佳圖書獎以及2002年度集體行動和社會運動研究最佳圖書獎。中文專着《社會與政治運動講義》于2006年由社會科學文獻出版社出版。《東周戰争和儒法國家的形成》于2007年由華東師範大學出版社和三聯出版社出版。
