1971年从台湾成功大学获得电机工程学士学位

1976和1977年从 Polytechnic Institute of New York University (现纽约大学Tandon工学院)获得硕士及博士学位。

工作经历

2013至2017年, 他曾任上海交通大学电子工程学系致远讲座教授

1991至2013年, 他曾任香港中文大学信息工程学系讲座教授

1991至1993年，他曾任Polytechnic Institute of New York University (现纽约大学Tandon工学院)电子工程学系教授

1989至1991年, 他曾任纽约哥伦比亚大学电机工程学系兼仼副教授

1977至1983年期间, 他在AT&T贝尔实验室从事研究工作

他曾获得许多奖章, 其中包括国际电机及电子工程通信学会的1989年Leonard G. Abraham奖, 以及1999年中国国家自然科学三等奖。他曾担任IEEE Transactions on Communications的编辑,并且担任Journal of Communication Networks编辑。
