在中美两国分别接受自然科学和社会科学的教育，曾在美国俄勒冈大学和纽约州立大学、新加坡国立大学和英国诺丁汉大学工作，2015年加入宁波诺丁汉大学。
主要成就
人才培养
曹聪教授从事关于中国的科学技术和创新的社会科学研究，著述涉及科学精英、科学技术人力资源、纳米技术和生物技术的创新与创业、科技体制改革等领域。他著有《中国的科学精英》、《中国转基因：全球争议是如何影响中国农业生物技术政策的》，并与其他学者合著《中国科技崛起的人才优势：高端人才的作用》、《中国创新及其对全球科技体制的挑战》。
