内容提要
检讨近年来医学本科教育中的不足，学生的专业外语交流能力较差是缺憾之一。这种先天不足将影响学生今后直接从国际儿科学界汲取丰富学术营养的能力，关系到我国儿科学界将来能否跻身世界学术先进行列的前景。
根据国情妥善解决这个问题的办法有赖于双语教学的逐步推进，本教材编写的目的正是为了顺应此项任务的需要。
本教材是首次按中文版教材框架搭建英语内容，在“洋为中用”的过程中可能有疏漏或错误之处，希望能得到教师和学生的批评、指教，使我们能不断获得经验并改进质量。
作者介绍
王卫平现任上海医科大学儿科医院院长,儿科研究所所长。1988年在上海医科大学博士研究生毕业,1990年获“优秀博士学位获得者”的称号,晋升为副教授,1993年晋升为教授。1990年被评为首批国家重点学科“儿科学”的学科带头人。1993年获“全国首届百名中青年医学科技之星”称号。同年,参加了“第一届上海市出国留学人员成果展览”。
